About

Jacob Carroll is a conductor, singer, keyboard player and recording artist based in Ann Arbor, MI. He has performed across the United States, Europe, and South America.

He works with ensembles in many diverse styles, ranging from music of the renaissance to music written today. Jacob has recorded two albums of renaissance polyphony, Gregorian chant, and contemporary choral music. As a conductor, he frequently commissions, premieres, and records new works by living composers.

His music tells complex stories and explores the boundary between formal and pop idioms. Regularly writing for choral and instrumental ensembles, Jacob’s music focuses on humanist and phenomenological themes. His works are performed throughout the United States by collegiate, professional, and community ensembles.

Jacob holds an M.M. in Choral Conducting, and a B.M. in Harpsichord Performance, both from the University of Michigan. Jacob’s primary teachers were Eugene Rogers and Joseph Gascho.
